Project Description
The subject of our third project on the island of Ugljan is in Ugljan itself. The project involves the reconstruction and upgrade of two houses within a complex of several stone houses with different owners.
The two houses mentioned above are family houses, but have been abandoned for a long time. The desire of investors is to revive and preserve existing houses built in the traditional Mediterranean style and at the same time to bring in them a touch of modern times.
The conversion of houses into holiday homes for rent to island visitors created the conditions for the revival of the long-abandoned structure. The visitor is able to experience the local ambience and history of the place with all the benefits of contemporary living.
Due to the current situation, the houses required different levels of reconstruction. Our project was based on the preservation and proper restoration of all existing elements such as stone walls, wooden floor structures, etc. One house was not preserved as a whole and had to be upgraded while the intervention in the second house concerned only the interior.
The said extension replicates the existing form of the house, which has been interpreted in a modern way. To the existing stone base, the ground floor of the house, we added a floor volume under a sloping roof completely lined with fibrous cement tiles and the extruded section of the house was drawn with steel frames and interpreted as a shaded terrace. The new gable wall was rebuilt in stone with an integrated firebox.
Inside the house we organized a living space according to the categorization of accommodation units. We connected the ground floor and the next floor with a new internal staircase.
The second house had a preserved external staircase, and the ground floor and first floor living spaces were connected via the outer space as it once was.
The outer space, framed by a number of existing houses, is also owned by the investor, and since other houses are not oriented towards it, we have used this potential to form a green yard with a pool available for the users of holiday homes.
The project is characterized by successful integration of contemporary facilities into existing traditionally built structures and preserving the spirit and ambience of island towns.
Predmet našeg već trećeg projekta na otoku Ugljanu je u samom Ugljanu. Projekt obuhvaća rekonstrukciju i dogradnju dvije kuće unutar sklopa više kamenih kuća različitih vlasnika.
Spomenute dvije kuće po svojoj namjeni su obiteljske kuće ali su već duže vrijeme napuštene. Želja investitora je oživjeti i sačuvati postojeće kuće izgrađene u tradicionalnom mediteranskom stilu te istovremeno u njih unijeti dašak modernog vremena.
Prenamjenom kuća u kuće za odmor koje se iznajmljuju posjetiteljima otoka stvorili su se uvjeti za ponovno oživljavanje dugo napuštene strukture. Posjetitelju je omogućen doživljaj lokalnog ambijenta i povijesti mjesta uz sve pogodnosti suvremenog stanovanja.
Obzirom na zatečeno stanje kuće su zahtijevale različitu razinu rekonstrukcije. Naš projekt se bazirao na očuvanju i primjerenoj obnovi svih zatečenih elemenata kao što su kameno ziđe, drvena međukatne konstrukcije i sl. Jedna kuća nije očuvana u cjelini te ju je bilo potrebno dograditi dok se intervencija u drugoj kući odnosila samo na interijer.
Spomenuta dogradnja ponavlja postojeću formu kuće koja je interpretirana na suvremeni način. Na postojeću kamenu bazu, prizemnu etažu kuće dodan je volumen kata pod kosim krovom kompletno obložen vlaknasto cementnim pločama te je ekstrudirani presjek kuće izvučen čeličnim okvirima te interpretiran kao zasjenjena terasa. Novi zabatni zid je ponovljen u kamenu sa integriranim ložištem.
Unutar kuće smo organizirali prostor za stanovanje sukladno kategorizaciji smještajnih jedinica. Prizemlje i dograđeni kat smo povezali novim unutarnjim stubištem.
Druga kuća je imala sačuvano vanjsko stubište te su prostori za stanovanje u prizemlju i na katu povezani preko vanjskog prostora kako je i nekad bilo.
Vanjski prostor uokviren nizom postojećih kuća također je u vlasništvu investitora, a kako na njega ostale kuće nisu orijentirane taj potencijal smo iskoristili za formiranje ozelenjenog dvorišta sa bazenom koje je na raspolaganju korisnicima kuća za odmor.
Projekt se odlikuje uspješnim integriranjem suvremenih sadržaja u postojeće tradicionalno izgrađene strukture te očuvanjem duha i ambijenta otočnih mjesta.
